What is thin slate? / How are thin stone veneers possible?

A process has been developed in which many wafer-thin layers of stone can be extracted from massive blocks of stone.The stone layers are not split off as with conventional stone slabs, but rather peeled off using a resin.Each of these slabs is unique and is handcrafted in over 12 processing steps .The look and feel of the solid stone slab are preserved.

Is Slate-Lite real natural stone or just a stone look?

Slate-Lite is real natural stone and not an artificial stone look. Our stone veneers have a 100% natural stone surface . Each slab is made from genuine natural stone and therefore has an authentic structure, natural feel and individual grain. Unlike artificial stone looks or decorative imitations, with Slate-Lite you get a real natural stone surface – thin, flexible and easy to work with. For many applications where a high-quality natural stone wall covering or a real stone surface is required, Slate-Lite offers the natural look of stone in a particularly light and flexible form.

What sizes does Slate-Lite come in?

Our thin stone veneers are available in many different sizes, depending on the laying pattern and room effect you would like to achieve.Our standard sizes are:S // 30 x 60 cm / approx. 11.8 x 23.6 in (approx. 0.18 m²) *)M // 122 x 61 cm / approx. 48.0 x 24.0 in (approx. 0.74 m²)L // 240 x 120 cm / approx. 94.5 x 47.2 in (approx. 2.88 m²)XL // 280 x 120 cm / approx. 110.2 x 47.2 in (approx. 3.36 m²)Due to their ease of processing, our stone veneers can of course also be cut to any desired special size with millimeter precision.If you do not wish to make cuts and adjustments yourself, you can have your desired decor produced directly in our shop with millimeter precision in your desired dimensions , or order a cut of material via our Workbox services.If you require even larger formats, please contact us; many designs can be produced up to a length of 350 cm / approx. 137.8 in!*) The 30 x 60 cm / approx. 11.8 x 23.6 in format is currently available in the Stick&GO! variant with self-adhesive film in selected designs.

Can I install Slate-Lite in the bathroom and shower?

You can easily use Slate-Lite in wet areas such as showers and bathrooms . Please note that a protective sealant is recommended to ensure durability and easy cleaning. Furthermore, as with any other wall covering, the substrate of the surface to be processed must be sealed according to applicable DIN standards. All decors are generally suitable for shower and bath, except for the two limestone decors ICE PEARL and GREEN PEARL, which are excluded from use in wet areas. UltraThin eco+ and ArtDecors Lite are unfortunately not suitable for use in wet areas.

How can I process Slate-Lite stone veneers?

The basic processing of Slate-Lite was done in four simple steps:1) Cut Slate-Lite to size (if necessary)2) Depending on the application location, impregnate or seal.3) Apply suitable adhesive to the entire surface of the wall or the back of the stone sheet.4) Position Slate-Lite at the desired location and press down.Detailed processing instructions can be found in our shop under the "Processing" section and in our data sheets.We also offer regular training courses where you can learn how to work with our stone veneers.

Can I lay Slate-Lite stone veneers directly over old tiles?

Clear answer: YES!Slate -Lite stone veneers can also be laid quickly and easily over old tiles.This completely eliminates the lengthy, dirty and tedious removal of old and unwanted tiles, bringing you closer to your dream bathroom faster than ever before!Bonding to old tiles is incredibly easy: If the proper sealing of the substrate according to valid DIN standards is ensured, the old tiles simply need to be cleaned to be free of dust and grease.Then apply the Slate-Lite adhesive with a B3 notched trowel and press the stone sheet into place - done!Note: On horizontal surfaces, old joints must be filled beforehand, otherwise the joint pattern may show through.(Please note that the amount of adhesive required may be up to 40% higher than usual, as the existing joints need to be leveled)
